Rooted in Faith & Community: Messaging for Leaders to Advance Health Equity

Feb 25, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Public health, community, and faith leaders need to effectively communicate with each other, elected officials and the public, from both sides of the political divide and across cultures, to advance a unified response to advance health equity. This virtual training will examine the relationship between our political views and the foundational moral values with which we resonate. We can become better advocates by understanding which foundational moral values resonate with us and why it is important to recognize, appreciate, and learn to speak to other people’s values.

Presenters:

·       Gene Matthews, JD – Region Director, Network for Public Health Law-Southeastern Region

·       June Blue –  Anishinabe Ojibwe, M Health Fairview, Community Advancement

·       Dawn Hunter, JD, MPH – Deputy Director, Network for Public Health Law-Southeastern Region

·       Gary Gunderson, M.Div., D.Min., D.Div. – Wake Forest Baptist Health, A national thought leader on faith-based health

To help inform the webinar, we encourage you to complete the Moral Foundations Self-Assessment in advance: https://go.unc.edu/MFsurvey-Interfaith-2

This short assessment will help you see how six different foundational values resonate with you. It will also show you which values you might want to learn more about using when you speak to others. This way you can message more effectively with a broader community.  This self-assessment takes just 8 minutes and provides you with a personalized, confidential summary of your profile, with links for where you can learn more.
